2026 Nova East T-Shirt and Toque

For the first time ever, Nova East is excited to offer both a t-shirt and a toque!

The white t-shirt features the vibrant multi-coloured artwork by Frank Logan alongside the Nova East logo designed by Michael Gatto. The black toque proudly displays the Nova East logo.

A special thank you to Gregg Dill, Treasurer, for coordinating this project locally — we appreciate all your hard work, Gregg!

How to Order

To order one or both items, simply complete the Registration Form and indicate:

  • the t-shirt size(s) you would like and the quantity needed for each size
  • the number of toques you would like

Payment is required at the time of ordering.

Note: The deadline for ordering t-shirts and toques is July 3, 2026.

T-Shirt

The Nova East Planning Team thanks Frank Logan for his time on the Nova East Planning Team and for his expertise in designing the t-shirt artwork. He is a member of the RASC Halifax Centre Board of Directors and frequently volunteers for outreach events.

 

The 2026 Nova East theme is The Sky - From Near to Far. The inspiration for the graphic was informed by the theme and the night sky we all enjoy in the Northern Hemisphere, with Ursa Major and Ursa Minor taking an important central role, and Polaris finding it’s place within the Nova East logo. “Near” is our closest celestial neighbor and guardian - the Moon. “Far” is exemplified by our galactic neighbour Andromeda. "The Sky" is the multi-shaded background representing the gas, dust and vast nebulosity that comprise the interstellar medium. Scattered among this medium are stars bearing diffraction spikes reminiscent of imagery from the Hubble Space Telescope or a classic ground‑based Newtonian reflector.

Toque

Michael Gatto
The Nova East Planning Team thanks Michael Gatto for his time on the Nova East Planning Team and for his expertise in designing the Nova East logo. Michael is a keen visual observer with a passion for sketching, and has been a Halifax Centre member for well over 25 years.
 
 
A logo that would easily identify the Nova East Star Party was needed to  serve the Centre for many years to come in publications, on merchandise, and all forms of communication relating to Nova East. The font is very casual, family friendly, and can be used one colour (as shown on our toque) or many colours (as shown on our Home page). The “a” and “e” have stars punched into the holes signifying deep-sky objects and the “o” has early phase Moon.
